Being Outside & Drinking Smoothies

All summer long, especially these past three weeks, I've been spending so much time outside. Whether it's walking to a destination, just walking, meditating, hiking, kayaking, eating, what have you, I've been outdoors. I finally noticed I hadn't written a blog in three weeks and had to wonder why. It wasn't because I was just so busy outside that I couldn't find time or material. But rather, I've been so fulfilled out there under the sun that my laptop and even the television just dropped into the back of my mind, practically out of my consciousness. There was a span of several days that I didn't even open my laptop, and it collected so much dust. This has been a blessing to take the time to get so wrapped up in the world around me, the earth (not to sound too "crunchy granola"). I practically had temporary amnesia in regards to the technology I'm so used to using everyday. What a breather.

I feel as though I've reconnected to the important things in my life; living things all around me, including my boyfriend. The other day, we went on a hike in the Blue Hills Reservation, and I was so lost, so immersed in nature that I could've just stayed there. As much as I do love to write and publish and be in the city, using high tech gadgets, my break from it all allowed me space for clarity and fresh air.

And that's about it at the moment. Usually, I have some clever story or at least an argument, but today I just needed to share my joy....

Oh, one more thing. This is an amazing recipe, a recipe which has fueled me every day with energy and vital nutrients, a recipe that has supported my lifestyle, a recipe that goes oh so well with being outside....

The Most Amazing Smoothie Recipe Ever

Ice cubes

Frozen banana

Frozen kale

Wheatgrass

Protein powder (optional; but I love Nutiva's Vanilla Plant Protein because it has great superfoods and NO artificial sweetener)

Kiwi

1/2 apple/orange/slices of pineapple

Greek yogurt

Carrot juice

I hope this makes your day.
